Scope for Prompt 2: Apply to translation-with-commentary and ensure commentary does not normalize source-label hybrids or weak Presence decisions.




BATCH 75 — UNIVERSAL MATERIALITY-AWARE POLISH + ANTI-CHURN HARDENING — 4 June 2026

This Batch75 patch is universal. It applies to all ATR translation, review, refinement, formatting, QA, no-repair promotion, packaging, and handoff workflows. It does not weaken any Batch74 false-pass, exact-artifact, Latin-script fluency, hybrid-residue, title/link, href/src, Blogger-chrome, or source-fidelity safeguards.

MATERIALITY-AWARE POLISH GATE
Before making any visible-text change during translation, refinement, adversarial review, repair, audit, or no-repair promotion, classify the proposed change:

A. REQUIRED REPAIR — must be fixed.
Required repairs include defects in source fidelity, omission/addition, mistranslation, doctrinal or technical term accuracy, article-central terminology consistency, speaker attribution, exact-title/link-text handling, source-language residue, mixed-language/hybrid residue, malformed retained source/Sanskrit/Pāli/Tibetan/English labels, target-language grammar, punctuation or line-merge damage, target-language readability, HTML/link/media/code integrity, and target-language naturalness where current wording sounds machine-translated, obscure, distracting, or misleading.

B. BENEFICIAL POLISH — allowed in active editing passes.
Beneficial polish is not strictly wrong but materially improves publication quality: naturalness, readability, sentence flow, public ATR Dharma-article register, reduction of translationese, clarity of difficult doctrinal points, consistency of repeated term families, idiomatic phrasing where literal wording is clunky, or smooth grammatical integration of retained technical labels. If visible text changes, the pass remains an editing/repair/refinement pass and cannot be promoted as no-repair in the same pass unless a separate no-material-edit promotion pass is then performed.

C. PREFERENTIAL REWRITE — avoid.
Do not rewrite merely because another acceptable phrasing is possible. If the current wording is source-accurate, doctrinally clear, grammatically correct, natural, termbank-consistent, publication-acceptable, and free from residue/hybrid/title/punctuation/link/HTML defects, do not churn synonyms or sentence structure.

MODE-SPECIFIC BEHAVIOR
Active translation / repair / adversarial review: required repairs must be made; beneficial polish may be made if it improves publication quality without changing source meaning or adding doctrine; preferential rewrites should normally be avoided. Record visible-text edits and keep repair/editing status.

No-repair promotion: reopen the exact latest artifact, actively search for required repairs, identify optional polish without editing it, and do not fail promotion merely because another acceptable phrasing exists. If only optional polish or preferential alternatives remain, record “optional polish only; no material repair required.” If any required repair is found, repair it and reset to the repair status.

CHANGE MATERIALITY LEDGER
For repair/adversarial-review passes, the QA/changelog must include a compact Change Materiality Ledger for representative and material visible-text changes: nearest heading/sentinel, old wording, new wording, category (Required repair / Beneficial polish / Preferential rewrite avoided), reason, and whether the change affects status. For no-repair promotion passes, report required repairs found yes/no, beneficial polish identified but not edited yes/no, preferential rewrites avoided yes/no, and material edits made yes/no.

ANTI-CHURN STOP RULE
After repeated adversarial review passes, if the exact latest artifact has no required repairs and remaining possible changes are only preferential rewrites or optional beneficial polish, stop editing. Do not reset status through synonym-level rewriting. A no-repair promotion pass may promote only after exact-artifact reopening, source comparison, terminology/residue/hybrid/title/link/href/src/structure/fluency gates, no required repair, and no visible-text material edit.

DO NOT WEAKEN STRONG QA
Continue to treat omissions, additions, mistranslations, doctrinal distortion, wrong technical terms, source-language residue, mixed-language hybrids, malformed retained labels, broken grammar, awkward translationese that damages publication quality, exact-title drift, link-text corruption, href/src/media/code mutation, speaker-attribution issues, punctuation/line-merge damage, structural omissions/duplications, and misleading target-language wording as material defects requiring repair.

BATCH 74 — UNIVERSAL MATERIALITY-AWARE POLISH + ANTI-CHURN HARDENING — 4 June 2026

This Batch75 patch is universal. It is not Polish-only and must apply across Latin-script, non-Latin-script, inflected, analytic, right-to-left, and mixed-script target languages. Preserve all Batch73 Presence / hybrid-residue safeguards and all inherited Batch72/71/70/68/67/66 safeguards.

FALSE-PASS / REUSED-ARTIFACT FAILURE GATE
A review, repair, no-repair promotion, package, or handoff pass is invalid unless it reopens the exact latest artifact and produces fresh evidence for this pass. Do not reuse prior pass summaries, prior links, old QA reports, old filenames, or memory as if they were a new review. If a response claimed a new pass but actually reused prior artifacts or did not review, explicitly retract that claim, identify the latest real artifact, and do not continue pretending the false pass exists.

EXACT-ARTIFACT EVIDENCE REQUIREMENT
Every pass must report the exact input artifact path/name, exact output artifact path/name, whether the output is byte-for-byte identical or materially changed, and SHA/hash or equivalent identity evidence when the tool environment allows it. State whether each intended replacement matched and applied. If no new artifact or new no-material-edit QA report is produced, do not claim a new pass; say: No new pass was completed.

NO-REPAIR VS REPAIR SEPARATION
A strict no-repair promotion pass must make no material edits. If any material issue is found, promotion fails. Either stop with a failed-promotion report or begin a separate material repair pass. Any pass that makes material edits must use: REPAIRED AFTER RE-AUDIT — material gates currently pass, no-repair promotion still required. It must not also promote in the same pass.

THOUGHT-ONLY REVIEW PROHIBITION
Thinking briefly and reusing old links is not a review. A valid review must show concrete evidence: opened latest artifact, searched/scanned target text, sampled high-risk source/target passages, ran target-language fluency checks, checked the cumulative risk basket, checked href/src/media/code parity, and generated a new QA report or explicitly stated that no new artifact was created.

STRING-SPECIFIC REPAIR FRAGILITY / 0-MATCH RULE
If a targeted repair does not match the current artifact, do not assume the issue is fixed. Search semantic variants, shorter substrings, inflected variants, capitalization variants, punctuation variants, HTML-separated variants, and nearby context. Log every 0-replacement intended repair as a warning requiring investigation. For scripted repairs, QA must list old string/pattern searched, match count, replacement applied, 0-match intended repairs, semantic follow-up search, and before/after cumulative risk-basket status.

LATIN-SCRIPT RESIDUE AND FLUENCY GATE
For Latin-script target languages, ordinary English residue is visually hidden because both source and target may use Latin characters. Run an extra Latin-script residue scan for English words left in ordinary prose, English technical labels with local grammar errors, English terms glued to local inflections/cases/prepositions, unquoted English labels used as target-language nouns, partially translated source-title fragments, and English idiom calques that look superficially grammatical.

INFLECTED-LANGUAGE PROTECTED-LABEL AGREEMENT GATE
For inflected target languages, retained labels such as AMness, I AMness, Presence, Awareness, Self, No Mind, no-mind, Dharma, Dhamma, Maha, anatta, anātman, dhātu, skandha, and śūnyatā must be checked for case, gender, number, agreement, and natural grammar. If a protected label is retained, the surrounding sentence must still be natural. Use target-language-first phrasing, quotes, or a short explanation rather than forcing local grammar onto the retained label.

SLASH-CALQUE HARDENING
Scan visible prose for slash compounds such as A/B, A / B, A/B/C, subject/object, doer/agency, Dhamma/Dharma, I/self/Self, mind/consciousness, realization/actualization, no-self/non-self/anatta/anātman, linked title fragments, and person aliases joined with slashes. Classify each as exact title/proper label, glossary/termbank, ordinary prose, or ambiguous. Preserve exact titles and intentional glossary labels; convert ordinary prose into natural target-language coordination, apposition, or explanatory phrasing; flag ambiguous cases.

EXACT TITLE VS TRANSLATED TITLE HARDENING
For every link-bound title, decide separately whether it is preserved exactly, fully translated naturally, or intentionally paired. Do not partially translate titles, honorifics, or title fragments such as translating “Mr.” while leaving the rest English. Do not mix target-language words into exact English titles unless that is the exact source title. QA must list linked titles as preserved, translated, or intentionally mixed/paired.

IDIOM AND METAPHOR CALQUE HARDENING
Prompt-level review must actively hunt literal renderings of English idioms/metaphors and build a target-specific idiom/calque risk basket. Seed examples include: go and read; goes down the drain; along the line of; break through; stood out; one hand claps; the drop is thorough; quality time; open and boundless; wholly thus; always already so; no mirror reflecting; magical appearances are too empty. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive.

TECHNICAL TERM FAMILY DRIFT GATE
Once a term family causes repeated repairs, add the family to the cumulative risk basket and scan globally in all variants. High-risk families include actualization/actualize/embodied/lived/integrated; ground/Ground of Being/ground reality/basis/path; Presence/pure Presence/total Presence; AMness/I AMness/I AM; Self/self/no-self/no-I/anatta/anātman; no-mind/No Mind/Mind that is no-mind; subject/object; doer/agency/no-doership; total exertion/total activity/full functioning; suchness/thusness/isness/wholly thus/Always So; Maha; yāna/lower yānas; dhātu/skandha; knowledge/cognitive obscurations; māyā/magical appearances; mirror/no mirror/mirror-like awareness.

MECHANICALLY CORRECT BUT UNNATURAL IS MATERIAL
A translation can pass termbank checks and still fail if the target-language prose is unnatural or doctrinally misleading. Treat unnatural case/gender/number agreement, source word order copied too literally, line-merge fragments, technical labels without grammatical integration, slash-heavy prose, literal metaphor calques, target-language punctuation defects, capitalization problems, and misleading ordinary-word renderings of Dharma terms as material defects when they affect readability or doctrinal clarity.

NO-REPAIR PROMOTION EVIDENCE ADDENDUM
A no-repair pass must include a section titled “No New Artifact Reuse / Exact Artifact Evidence” with: I reopened: [exact file]; I produced: [exact report/file]; Material edits made: yes/no; if no, output is byte-for-byte identical/hash-equivalent/explicitly copied unchanged; if yes, no promotion allowed; prior pass status was not assumed; new review evidence is listed.

CROSS-LANGUAGE TERM SOURCE EVIDENCE LIMIT
Use target-language Buddhist sources where available to confirm major Dharma term choices, but source evidence supports broad term choices only. It does not prove sentence-level fidelity, context fit, or target-language fluency. Paragraph/link/blockquote/list counts are necessary but insufficient and must never be treated as proof of translation quality.

STATUS DISCIPLINE
If material issues are found after a previous no-repair promotion, state: Previous promotion was premature. This pass found material issues that should have been caught earlier. Status is reset to REPAIRED AFTER RE-AUDIT — material gates currently pass, no-repair promotion still required. Never claim strict-certified final.

BATCH 73 — UNIVERSAL PRESENCE GATE + TARGET-LANGUAGE-FIRST PARENTHETICAL ORDER + HYBRID RESIDUE HARDENING — 1 June 2026

This Batch73 patch is universal. It is not a Japanese-only fix. Apply it to all ATR translation, review, refinement, HTML translation, audit, formatting, package, and promotion workflows for all target languages.

UNIVERSAL KEY TERM RESEARCH BEFORE DEFAULT TRANSLATION GATE
Before translating or standardizing any high-risk AtR/Dharma term, do not rely only on dictionary equivalence, memory, previous target-language habits, or another language's termbank. Create or update a compact Key Term Research / Decision Table for article-central terms. Include source term, target rendering, translated/retained/transliterated/paired status, protected-label status, ordinary-prose rule, forbidden/high-risk renderings, whether external/source research is needed, and whether the term has multiple senses.

Minimum high-risk basket when present: Presence/presence, Awareness/awareness, I AM/AMness, anatta/no-self/non-self/anatman, emptiness/empty nature, dependent arising/dependent origination, non-dual/non-duality, no-mind/No Mind/One Mind, luminosity/clarity/vividness, manifestation/appearance/phenomena, suchness/thusness/isness, subject/object/subject-object division, agent/agency/doer/doership/non-doership, spontaneous perfection, total exertion, Dzogchen/Mahamudra/rigpa/Dharma/Buddhadharma, and article-specific technical terms.

UNIVERSAL PRESENCE GATE
Treat Presence as a high-risk AtR/Dharma term, not a generic English word. Distinguish technical AtR Presence from ordinary presence/present, ever-present/already-so phrasing, philosophical/metaphysics-of-presence usage, and Dzogchen title/phrase usage such as Instant Presence. Technical AtR Presence points to luminous immediacy/direct actuality/the vivid fact of being-experience and appears in phrases such as pure Presence, Total Presence, Presence-Awareness, Presence is spontaneously perfected, manifold of Presence, and nature of Presence. It requires target-language research and a termbank decision.

Japanese house-style note for the Seven Stages article family: technical AtR Presence defaults to 臨在; pure Presence = 純粋な臨在; Total Presence = 総体的臨在; Presence-Awareness = 臨在＝覚知; Presence is spontaneously perfected = 臨在は自ずから円成している / context-specific. Avoid 現前性 as the default for AtR Presence unless the context is specifically philosophical/phenomenological. Ordinary present/ever-present contexts may require 現前している, すでに現れている, 常にすでにそうである, or another natural phrase. Do not impose this Japanese note on other target languages. Chinese AtR house style may preserve 臨在 where applicable, but Chinese choices are clues, not automatic authorities for all other languages.

TARGET-LANGUAGE-FIRST PARENTHETICAL ORDER RULE
In ordinary target-language prose, if a retained English/Sanskrit/Pāli/Tibetan/source label is useful, prefer target-language first: target-language rendering（source label）. Avoid source-label first forms in ordinary prose unless the source label is an exact title, is being discussed as a phrase, the target-language convention strongly prefers it, the user explicitly requests it, or it is a glossary/termbank entry. Do not glue retained source labels directly to target-language case markers, particles, suffixes, postpositions, clitics, or inflections.

Japanese examples: use 無我（anatta）の, not anatta の; 空性（shunyata）の実現, not shunyata の実現; 心（Mind）, not Mind（心） in ordinary prose; 伝達（transmission）, not transmission（伝達）; 無我（no-self）, not no self（無我）. Avoid hybrids such as Pure覚知, Natural覚知, Non-dual は, dependent origination の, ground と path, meditative composure と insight, no-mind の状態, anatta実現, Maha経験, On 空性, Self-実現, and Being／Self-Realisation への.

UNIVERSAL HYBRID RESIDUE SCAN
Before final or promotion, build a target-language-specific hybrid scan basket. Search for English/source labels glued to local particles/case markers/suffixes/inflections; English words inside target-language compounds; target-language words inserted into exact English titles; mixed-script technical hybrids; English-first parentheticals in running prose; translated fragments inside exact English titles; ordinary English prose overprotected as technical labels; and stray spaces before local particles after parentheses. For Latin-script target languages, run an extra ordinary-English residue scan because English residue is harder to see.

EXACT TITLE VS TRANSLATED TITLE HANDLING
For every linked article/book/video/audio title, decide whether the link text should remain the exact source title or be translated as a full natural target-language title. If preserved, preserve the whole title exactly; do not partially translate it. If translated, translate the whole title naturally and retain the exact source title in parentheses only when useful. Do not create mixed titles such as On 空性, Awakening to Reality 実践 Guide, or Recognizing Rigpa vs Realizing 空性. Do not translate URL slugs. Record intentional title preservation/translation in QA.

PROTECTED-LABEL WHITELIST DISCIPLINE
A word being technical does not automatically mean it should remain in English. Classify every retained English/Sanskrit/Pāli/Tibetan label as exact title, proper name, URL/code, intentionally retained technical term, intentionally retained English AtR label, gloss in parentheses after target-language rendering, or human-review placeholder. Ordinary lowercase terms such as experience, realization, practice, view, awareness, consciousness, manifestation, ground, path, source, self, mind, state, clarity, naturalness, ordinariness, spontaneity, agent, doer, doership, subject, and object should normally be translated unless a reason is documented.

TERM-FAMILY ESCALATION RULE
If more than one material issue is found around the same term family, escalate that family into the active termbank and scan basket. Example: if Presence was mistranslated once, scan Presence, pure Presence, Total Presence, Presence-Awareness, nature of Presence, present, ever-present, and target-language alternatives globally. If one anatta hybrid appears, scan every anatta/no-self/non-self/anatman form. If one total exertion issue appears, scan total exertion/total activity/complete activity/full function equivalents globally.

TOTAL EXERTION SOURCE-AWARE RULE
Do not default total exertion mechanically. For Japanese Dōgen/Zenki contexts, consider 全機 and 一法究尽 depending on source meaning. For Chinese, preserve the existing rule not to default to 全体作用; use 一法究尽 / 具尽 / context-specific handling. For other languages, research source/context before setting a default.

NO-REPAIR PROMOTION HARDENING
A no-repair promotion pass must include exact-artifact reopening, source comparison, Prompt 6 semantic fidelity review, Prompt 9 target-language fluency review, target-language hybrid residue scan, target-language-first parenthetical-order scan, high-risk term table consistency scan, exact linked-title scan, ordinary prose vs protected-label classification, URL/href/src/code integrity scan, punctuation/line-merge scan, and representative high-risk sentence sampling from beginning, middle, ending, blockquotes, bold/italic sections, and all article-central terms. If material issues are found after a previous no-repair promotion, explicitly retract the earlier promotion and reset status: Previous promotion was premature. This pass found material issues that should have been caught earlier. Status is reset to REPAIRED AFTER RE-AUDIT — material gates currently pass, no-repair promotion still required.

REQUIRED QA EVIDENCE ADDITIONS
Every final/review/promotion QA report should include: exact source file, exact target file, prompt versions applied, target-language risk profile, key term decision table, Presence Gate result when relevant, parenthetical-order scan result, hybrid residue scan basket, ordinary English/source residue basket, protected-label whitelist, exact linked-title scan, href/src/media parity, non-source text in URL/code scan, major structure counts, representative sentence sampling notes, cumulative risk basket and results, whether material edits were made, and the correct status label.

STATUS DISCIPLINE
Because Batch73 is a material managed-prompt update, its status is: REPAIRED AFTER RE-AUDIT — material gates currently pass, no-repair promotion still required. Only a later exact-artifact no-material-edit readback pass may promote to: reviewed final / publishable — strict-certified final not claimed.



BATCH 71 — UNIVERSAL WITNESS/SĀKṢĪ GATE + RESIDUE/CALQUE HARDENING — 1 June 2026

This Batch71 patch is inherited from the Tamil Seven Stages review lessons and applies to every managed prompt that can create, translate, edit, review, refine, audit, format, package, publish, or declare status for translated ATR artifacts. Preserve all Batch70 hard no-repair promotion discipline, Batch68 non-Latin residue rules, Batch67 dialogue/source-box parity, Blogger chrome preservation, exact href/src parity, no-added-gloss rules, no-public-translation-contamination rules, Prompt T source hierarchy, Prompt X source-restoration rules, and existing Soh/AtR Chinese termbank rules. Do not update the separately maintained standalone user intro prompt unless the user explicitly asks.

UNIVERSAL WITNESS / SĀKṢĪ GATE
The English words witness, Witness, Eternal Witness, Witness-consciousness, watcher, observer, seer, hearer, perceiver, knower, and subject are high-risk and must not be translated mechanically. Classify each occurrence before translating or approving it:
A. Ordinary/legal/social witness: use the ordinary target-language word for a person who saw, attests, testifies, or gives legal/social witness.
B. Advaita/Vedanta/Self/Witness-consciousness context: use the target language's established technical rendering for Sākṣī / sākṣin / Witness-consciousness; do not use a merely legalistic witness term if it suggests a court witness. Trigger contexts include Eternal Witness, the Witness, Witness itself, witness behind experience, observer behind experience, Self, Atman, Brahman, I AM, AMness, Advaita, Vedanta, Hindu, Ramana, Nisargadatta, universal Self, background awareness, critiques of an ultimate subject/watcher/seer/observer/knower/background/consciousness, or Buddhist/AtR passages contrasting anatta/no-self with an Eternal Witness.
C. Buddhist no-self/anatta critique context: preserve that what is negated is the Advaita-style ultimate Witness/Sākṣī/background subject, not a legal witness or ordinary observer.
D. Indic or Indic-influenced targets: prefer established Sanskritic local forms where natural, such as Tamil சாக்ஷி, Hindi साक्षी, Bengali সাক্ষী, or equivalent local forms, with context making clear the technical rather than legal sense.
E. Non-Indic targets: if the ordinary witness word sounds legalistic, use a technical formulation such as Sākṣī (witness-consciousness), witness-consciousness, Witness-Self, pure witnessing awareness, or the witnessing subject according to source context and readability.
F. QA/changelog must state how Witness/Sākṣī was classified and rendered when encountered. If unresolved, flag human review and do not silently approve.

TECHNICAL VS ORDINARY VISIBLE-LINK TEXT GATE
Visible <a> text is visible article text. Do not preserve all English link text automatically. Classify every linked text node as: URL-only display text; proper name/person/group/source title; exact article/book/video/audio title; sentence-like prose containing a link; or hybrid title/prose fragment. Translate sentence-like prose naturally while preserving href exactly. Preserve exact titles only when source traceability or house style requires it. Treat leaving ordinary English link prose in a target article, corrupting href while translating link text, or treating a normal English sentence as a protected title merely because it is inside <a> as material defects. Prompt 6/9 and no-repair promotion must include visible link-text classification in QA.

ROMANIZED SANSKRIT/PĀLI/TIBETAN TECHNICAL TERM RESIDUE GATE
For non-Latin target scripts, romanized Sanskrit/Pāli/Tibetan/Dharma terms inside target prose must be classified as intentionally preserved in Latin script, transliterated into target script, translated, or paired translation + technical term. Do not leave romanized terms accidentally. High-risk basket includes prajna/prajñā, jnana/jñāna, shunyata/śūnyatā/sunyata, anatman/anātman, anatta, dharma/Dharma, Buddhadharma, rigpa, vidya/vidyā, sakshi/sākṣī/sākṣin, Atman/Ātman, Brahman, Mahamudra, Dzogchen, tathata/tathatā, suchness, and thusness. Tamil seed note: Witness / Eternal Witness in Advaita context = சாக்ஷி / நித்திய சாக்ஷி, not ordinary சாட்சி; prajna/prajñā = பிரஜ்ஞா when preserving the Indic technical term in Tamil script, while ஞானம் may render general wisdom, and ஞானம் (பிரஜ்ஞா) may be used when source gives wisdom (prajna).

TARGET-SPECIFIC HYBRID RESIDUE SCAN
For every target language, build a target-specific hybrid scan basket before final status. Include English/Sanskrit/Pāli/technical labels followed by target-language case suffixes, particles, plural markers, postpositions, or inflection endings; English words embedded in target-script prose; target-language words embedded in English phrases; half-translated compounds; mixed-script Dharma terms; English conjunctions/prepositions inside target prose such as and/of/as/in/into/with/without/the where not protected; and romanized technical terms with target-language suffixes. Adapt the scan to the target language's morphology; do not search only Bengali or Tamil examples.

PROMPT 9 CALQUE AND FLUENCY DEFECT BASKET
Prompt 9 must actively hunt unnatural target-language syntax that preserves English grammar too literally. Check mechanical as/become constructions; practice/actualize/realize mistranslations; subject-object division reversals; arbitrary as random/careless when source means non-essential/not merely optional; pitfalls as physical path mistakes instead of doctrinal traps/blind spots; dogma as neutral teaching instead of rigid doctrine; plainness as dullness rather than simplicity/directness; ongoing activity without practice-enlightenment sense; No Mind / One Mind / Self / self/Self flattened into ordinary words; and Presence/Awareness/consciousness/luminosity/clarity/vividness flattened into one target term without context. Prompt 9 must read as native target-language Dharma prose: idiom, compounds, particles/case/postpositions, register, punctuation, and grammatical integration of technical labels all matter. Material fluency repairs prohibit same-pass promotion.

REPEATED-FAILURE ESCALATION

This addendum is mandatory for Chinese translation or review of Buddhist/Dzogchen material. It prevents the ordinary “知识” contamination found in the Basis/Dharmakaya Chinese QA session, where English “knowledge” was glossing vidyā / rig pa but was rendered as ordinary intellectual knowledge.

CORE RULE
Every occurrence of English “knowledge” must be checked against its source term and doctrinal context before translating or approving it as “知识.” Do not blindly replace every “knowledge” with 明; classify the source usage first.

CLASSIFICATION GATE
A. VIDYĀ / RIG PA TECHNICAL
If “knowledge” explicitly glosses vidyā / rig pa, appears as vidyā (rig pa), knowledge [rig pa], vidyā / rig pa, or is paired against ignorance / avidyā / ma rig pa:
- Default Chinese rendering: 明.
- If the phrase is “knowledge of X,” prefer 对X的明知 or X之明知.
- Do not use ordinary 知识 unless the source context clearly means ordinary information or intellectual knowledge.

Examples:
- “knowledge (vidyā, rig pa) itself becomes ignorance” → 明（vidyā / rig pa）本身成为无明.
- “ignorance depends on knowledge” → 无明依赖明.

B. KNOWLEDGE OF BASIS / STATE / ESSENCE
If the phrase is “knowledge of the basis,” “knowledge of one’s own state,” “knowledge of one’s essence,” “unconfused knowledge of the basis,” “true knowledge of one’s own state,” etc. in a vidyā / rig pa context:
- Prefer 对基的明知, 对自身状态的明知, 对自身精髓的明知, 无迷乱明知, 真实明知.
- Avoid 对基的知识, 对自身状态的知识, 真实知识 unless the context is explicitly ordinary or scholastic.

C. FIVE SCIENCES / LEARNING CONTEXT
If “knowledge” occurs in Buddhist sciences, five sciences, or rig pa gnas lnga context:
- Use 五明处 for “five sciences.”
- Use 学问, 学术, or 知 according to context, not automatically 知识.
- Example: “helpful worldly knowledge” → 有益世间学问.

D. ORDINARY / INTELLECTUAL CONTEXT
If “knowledge” is part of an ordinary modern or intellectual phrase:
- 知识 may be acceptable only when the context is ordinary information/knowledge.
- For “intellectual,” prefer 智识 or 知性 as appropriate.
- For “knowledge obscuration,” use 所知障, not 知识障.

E. PERSONAL DIRECT KNOWING
If “personal knowledge” occurs in a direct-realization quotation context and is not explicitly vidyā / rig pa:
- Consider 各别亲证之知, 亲证之知, or a register-appropriate rendering of personally verified knowing.
- Do not mechanically use 个人知识.

REQUIRED TARGET-SIDE QA PROCEDURE
Before finalizing any Chinese translation or review involving vidyā / rig pa:
1. Search the whole target for 知识.
2. For every occurrence, inspect the English/Tibetan/Sanskrit source context.
3. Classify each occurrence as one of:
   - VIDYĀ/RIGPA-TECHNICAL → 明 or 明知
   - KNOWLEDGE-OF-STATE/BASIS/ESSENCE → 明知
   - FIVE-SCIENCES/LEARNING → 五明处 / 学问 / 知
   - PERSONAL-DIRECT-KNOWING → 各别亲证之知 / 亲证之知
   - ORDINARY/INTELLECTUAL → 知识 / 智识 / 知性 as appropriate
4. Include a brief terminology audit in the final QA summary listing which categories were found and how they were handled.
5. Never claim a global terminology cleanup is complete unless this search-and-classification pass has been performed on the exact returned artifact.

RELATED RULES TO CROSS-REFERENCE
- rig pa = 明（vidyā）, not awareness.
- ye shes = 本初觉智 / 智慧 depending context; do not flatten into awareness.

BATCH 31 BASIS/DHARMAKAYA LIGHT PROPAGATION ADDENDUM — v6.6 — 4 May 2026

This is a light propagation addendum, not a full duplication of Prompt A/1/6/9/T. It applies the Basis/Dharmakaya QA6 lessons to scholarly translation-with-commentary work.

FILE-ROLE AND SOURCE-PARITY GATE
If the user supplies an old source, restyled source, existing target-language draft, screenshots, and/or QA reports, first classify each file by role: content authority, style shell, target draft, witness translation, or QA evidence. If a restyled file is claimed to preserve the old source content, compare normalized visible text before translating or commenting. Do not treat a styled file as the source authority until parity passes.

COMMENTARY MUST NOT HIDE BODY INCOMPLETENESS
Prompt 2 may include commentary, but commentary cannot compensate for missing translated body content. If a restored source block exists, the translation segment must cover it fully; commentary may discuss it afterward. Do not say complete, final, or verified if restored source blocks remain untranslated.

FRESH TRANSLATION OF RESTORED BLOCKS
When missing English/source blocks are restored, translate them freshly from the repaired source using Prompt 1-style no-compression discipline. Do not rely on an older Chinese translation, public translation, or previous generated draft unless the user explicitly permits it.

DUPLICATE AND LINE-WRAP HANDLING
Repeated headings or sections must be logged as intentional repetition, source defect, export artifact, or duplicate to remove. Old Blogger/Facebook line wraps should not automatically become separate paragraphs. Reflow only when the source structure supports it.

QUOTE-BOUNDARY AND DZOGCHEN TERM REVIEW
Long quotes, multi-paragraph quotes, and dialogue blocks must remain inside the correct quote/dialogue boundary until the true boundary is reached. For Dzogchen material, keep rig pa/vidyā, ye shes/jñāna, shes pa, rnam shes, sems, gzhi, ka dag, lhun grub, thugs rje, trekchö, and thögal distinct in the terminology ledger.

GLOBAL KERNEL INHERITANCE

Prompt 2 inherits the suite-wide high-fidelity kernel:
1. Preserve all source content with no compression, omission, flattening, or silent paraphrase.
2. Treat the source as the sole semantic authority. Commentary may explain, but may not smuggle in meanings absent from the source.
3. Preserve the author’s register, doctrinal level, rhetorical force, examples, caveats, and uncertainty.
4. Keep the output mechanically auditable with SegID/PARA coverage, quote/URL parity, locked-term concordance, and explicit self-assessment.
5. If a passage is too long, split into coverage-certified parts rather than summarizing.

PROMPT 2-SPECIFIC COMMENTARY RULE

Because Prompt 2 intentionally includes annotations and commentary, the older “clean translation only” hard-stop must be interpreted locally as follows:
- Translation segments themselves must not contain hidden notes, glosses, citations, or extra commentary unless the output format explicitly labels them.
- Annotation and commentary sections are allowed, but they must be clearly separated from translation segments.
- Do not merge commentary into the translated prose.

SHARED TERMBANK INHERITANCE — ADDITIVE, NOT DESTRUCTIVE

Use the shared termbank as an occurrence-by-occurrence decision gate, not as a blind replacement engine.

Equanimity / upekkhā / upekṣā:
- In explicit four brahmavihāra / 四无量心 / 慈悲喜舍 contexts, 舍, 舍心, or 平舍心 may be correct.
- In modern contemplative prose, 平等心, 平衡, 泰然, 平静的平衡, or another contextual rendering may be better.
- Do not globally force equanimity to 平等心, and do not use 舍离 when it misleadingly suggests abandonment rather than evenness.

self / Self / self-:
- Check every occurrence against the source.
- ego-self, uppercase Self, reflexive self-happening, self-luminous, self-validating, self-referential, and ordinary “myself/yourself” constructions require different renderings.
- Do not keep any one-off shared-termbank row for rare project-specific self/Self phrasings. Handle rare future cases only if the exact source context requires it.

spontaneous / natural / self-arising:
- Do not globally force 自然, 自发, 自然而然, 任运, or 自生.
- Decide from source register: ordinary spontaneous action, effortless unfolding, Dzogchen lhun grub, dependent-arising context, or poetic naturalness are not the same thing.
- Commentary may explain the choice when doctrinal stakes are high.

Awareness / consciousness / knowing / vidyā / rigpa:
- Preserve the prompt’s existing Tibetan and doctrinal locks.
- Do not blur rig pa, ye shes, consciousness, awareness, knowing, cognition, and ordinary mindfulness.

FALSE-FRIEND / POLARITY GATE

Before finalizing each segment, run a silent polarity and false-friend scan:
1. Check negation: not, no, non-, without, neither/nor, not-two, not-one, not-existing, not-nothing, neither existent nor non-existent.
2. Check polarity reversals: there vs not there, appear yet empty, empty yet vivid, natural yet not self-existing, luminous yet ownerless.
3. Check reification traps: Awareness as a thing, Self as ego, emptiness as voidness, appearance as shadow, nature as substance, principle as noumenon.
4. Check false friends: equanimity, spontaneous, self-luminous, validation, intimate, immediacy, stillness, openness, presence, no-self, nondual, void, signless, formless.
5. If a key term is ambiguous, preserve the ambiguity and discuss it in annotations rather than resolving it by doctrinal overreach.

SOURCE-ANCHORED CLEANUP WARNING

Do not perform global cleanup based only on the target draft. All cleanup must be anchored to the exact source occurrence. In particular:
- Do not globally replace 自我, 自然, 平等心, 舍, 意识, 觉知, 空, 有/无, 本性, or 光明 without checking the source occurrence.
- Do not “improve” a target passage into doctrinal orthodoxy if the source is plain, rough, conversational, ambiguous, or in-progress.
- Do not introduce Sanskrit, Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese, or doctrinal terms merely because the passage sounds Buddhist-adjacent.

SOURCE-RESTORATION TRIGGER

When the English source appears to quote, paraphrase, or translate an originally Chinese, Japanese, Tibetan, Sanskrit, or other canonical/source-language passage:
1. Flag it in the PREP_PACK or commentary as a possible source-restoration candidate.
2. If the original is provided by the user or clearly identifiable from reliable context, restore the original-script source quotation before translating or explaining it.
3. For Chinese/Japanese source restoration, prefer original source text over English → Chinese back-translation.
4. Use bracketed helpers only where appropriate:
   - 【白话：…】 for plain-language Chinese explanation.
   - 【译按：…】 for translator/editor notes.
   - 【可译为：…】 for alternate renderings, always bracketed.
5. If the original cannot be verified, do not fabricate it. Translate the supplied source faithfully and mark the restoration status as unverified.

ARTIFACT READBACK WARNING

If this prompt is used to create or edit a file, HTML page, DOCX, PDF, TXT mirror, or any other artifact:

   Lotsawa-style English, older English translations, modern Chinese translations, Wikipedia/Rigpa Wiki, or other public witnesses may be discussed in commentary, but they must not override the original-language source.

2. Body translation must be source-proven.
   Commentary may say that a public translation suggests a possible reading, but the translated segment itself must contain only what is SOURCE-PROVEN by the original source.

3. Label witness-derived speculation.
   Any witness-derived or dictionary-derived possibility not proven by the original source must be clearly labeled in the commentary as WITNESS-SUGGESTED, not silently inserted into the translation.

4. Keep commentary from contaminating the translation.

REQUIRED behavior:

Translate “seamless” as “途切れのなさ / シームレス / 断絶のなさ,” etc. If the source did not invoke “dependent origination,” you may NOT inject 縁起 or pratītyasamutpāda.

CANONICAL REGISTER OVER LITERALISM When translating standard Buddhist triads or technical lists, you must use the established English canonical term (e.g., from Acarya Malcolm Smith, Bhikkhu Bodhi, Red Pine, or standard dictionaries like Soothill/Muller) rather than a colloquial literal definition.

Example: For 貪瞋癡 (Greed, Anger, Delusion), Chī must be "Delusion" or "Ignorance." Do NOT translate it as "Stupidity" or "Folly," even if the character literally means that in modern Chinese.

Example: For 定 (Dìng), use "Concentration" or "Samādhi." Do not use mechanical terms like "Stabilization" or "Fixation" unless the text is a physics manual.

NO FORCED EQUIVALENCE.

Do not assume that every spiritually flavored English term secretly “must correspond” to a canonical Buddhist Sanskrit/Tibetan/Chinese term.

If the source says “aliveness,” “vivid immediacy,” “intimacy,” “spacious ease,” etc., you MUST render those literally in [Target Language], even if you personally suspect they’re like śūnyatā [emptiness] or rigpa [vidyā / knowing].

Only introduce śūnyatā, pratītyasamutpāda, rigpa, dharmakāya, etc., when (a) the source actually names them or (b) the source uses a clearly established synonym from the same doctrinal register.

Otherwise, inserting them counts as addition and concept drift (ISO-17100 accuracy requirement explicitly forbids additions/omissions; see also MQM Accuracy categories “Mistranslation,” “Addition,” “Omission”).

LEVEL-OF-SPEECH MATCH.

Match register. If the source is casual, phenomenological, coaching-style (“it just moves on its own, effortless”), you must NOT upgrade the tone to scholastic treatise or sūtra voice (“spontaneously perfected Presence in accordance with total exertion of conditions”).

Output must read like the same person speaking, not like a different lineage holder delivering a dharma talk.

Rationale: Over-elevating register implicitly injects doctrine and authority that is not in the source, which is a known pathway to mistranslation in Buddhist materials, because classical Buddhist translation cultures sometimes standardized terms across scriptures to prevent drift. That’s appropriate for scripture, not for modern personal commentary unless the speaker is explicitly teaching doctrine.

PRESERVE AUTHOR’S LOGIC, NOT THE TRANSLATOR’S PHILOSOPHY.

The translator must not “fix” the metaphysics.

If the source passage is sloppy, slightly contradictory, or in-progress (“it’s like everything is just one field, kinda holographic, no gap”), you MUST translate that sloppiness.

You are NOT allowed to “correct” it to an orthodox Buddhist view (“there is only dependent origination; there is no gap between subject and object”), unless those words are already present.

This aligns with professional translation QA standards: you cannot silently reinterpret to “improve” correctness; doing so is classified as a mistranslation (Accuracy error).

TERMINOLOGY LOCK VS. FREE LANGUAGE RULE.

We run two tracks:

1. Locked doctrinal terms track.

When the source explicitly says “dependent origination,” we lock pratītyasamutpāda [dependent origination] and then keep using “pratītyasamutpāda” (after first gloss) per the Loanword-First Rule. This follows Buddhist translation conventions of consistent terminology for core technical lexemes to avoid doctrinal drift.

2. Free descriptive language track.

When the source is using informal, experiential, modern wording that is not named as doctrine, we MUST keep it informal in the target. Do NOT “promote” it into a doctrinal keyword.

Example: “effortless aliveness everywhere” must stay something like 「どこまでも自然に生き生きと現れている感じで、力みがない」 and MUST NOT become “自然円満（lhun grub）,” unless the speaker explicitly referenced lhun grub (natural perfection).

NO IMPLIED SUBJECT WHERE SOURCE DENIES ONE.

If the source says “there is only sound, no hearer,” you MUST NOT sneak back in a knower like “we can hear the interconnectedness manifesting as this moment.”

That adds a subtle agent/knower-self which the source just dismantled.

This is also an ISO-17100 accuracy violation (addition of an agent not present in the source).

Required behavior: keep “only sound / no hearer / just the vivid ringing,” in [Target Language], even if it sounds abrupt. Don’t soften it into something more philosophically “nice.”

DISALLOWED
JUSTIFICATION:

The translator is NOT allowed to defend an injection by saying “but doctrinally, that’s what they meant.”

If the source didn’t say it, you don’t write it.

If you feel the source is implying a doctrine, you may at most mirror the implication level, e.g. “everything arises at once with no separateness,” but you CANNOT name the doctrine (like 他力本願, tathāgatagarbha, rigpa, pratītyasamutpāda) unless it actually appears in the source or is a known fixed synonym the speaker already uses elsewhere in this same job.

This protects against speculative “equivalence mapping,” which is a known risk when translating Buddhist/technical material into/within [Target Language] because translators sometimes over-regularize casual speech into canonical jargon.
